Recipe 18: Coffee Swirl Cake

In a soft and moist vanilla cake when a kick of coffee tingles the taste buds, you know something is naughty about the not-so-average looking cake.

Try this simple yet amazing recipe to wow your crowd!


  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1 cup castor sugar
  3. 1 cup warm milk
  4. 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  5. 1 tbsp. baking powder
  6. 2 tbsp. instant coffee powder (click to buy Davidoff Coffee)
  7. 2 tsp. vanilla essence (click to buy Ossoro Real Vanilla Extract)
  8. 1/4 tsp. fine salt
  9. 2 eggs


Preheat the oven at 180 degrees.
Sieve the flour, baking powder and salt. Keep aside.
In a large mixing bowl whisk together oil, eggs, sugar and vanilla essence.
Now alternate the dry mixture with the warm milk and add it to the egg mixture. Whisk it very gently and only till all the dry flour has been incorporated. The cake batter will be quite runny.
Pour half the cake batter into a prepared loaf tin. Outperform Non-Stick Food Grade Loaf Tin is an excellent option. for uniform baking.
Sprinkle the dry coffee-sugar granules all over the batter. No need to swirl. Now top it with the rest of the batter.
Bake for 40-50 minutes or till a nice dome is formed and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
