Dal or pulses or lentils is a rich source of protein. And besides the usual way serving them with rice or roti, dal can also be made into pakora or fritters.

Dal or pulses or lentils is a rich source of protein. And besides the usual way serving them with rice or roti, dal can also be made into pakora or fritters.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup chana dal/ split chickpeas
- 1/2 cup masoor dal/ red lentils
- 1 large onion finely chopped
- 3-4 green chillies
- 1 tsp. nigella seeds/ kalongi
- 1 tsp. haldi/turmeric powder
- salt to taste
- vegetable oil for frying
Method:
Soak both dals for 3-4 hours in water.
Grind dals and green chillies to a coarse paste.
Transfer it to a bowl.
Meanwhile, heat oil for deep frying.
Add salt, haldi, kalongi, and onions to it.
With a help of a spoon, drop 1 tablespoon amount of dal mixture into the hot oil.
On medium high heat, let the pakoras fry till golden brown on all sides.

Take them out and place on a paper towel.
Serve hot with tea and ketchup.
