Recipe 120: Garlic Oat Bread

After the success of the my Oat Bread, I went on to experiment with a variety of flavors that can be added to the base recipe.

One of  my favorite is the Garlic Oat Bread which is turned out to be a great sandwich bread. You can either slather it with butter or cheese. Or build up a sandwich of your choice with it.

Flavorful and nutritious, with no need for yeast, this recipe is a must try!

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup oats (Get on Amazon)
  2. 1 cup whole wheat flour
  3. 3/4 cup milk
  4. 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  5. 3 tbsp. fresh basil leaves chopped or 2 tbsp. dry basil leaves (Get on Amazon)
  6. 1 tbsp. grated fresh garlic
  7. 1 tbsp. refined oil or melted butter
  8. 1-2 tbsp. dried pasta/pizza seasoning (Get on Amazon)
  9. 2 tsp. baking powder
  10. 1 tsp. salt
  11. 1 tsp. sugar
  12. 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  13. 1 egg

Method:

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together oats, egg, salt, sugar, yogurt, milk and oil.
Add garlic, 2 tsp. pizza/pasta seasoning, and basil leaves.
Mix well.
Meanwhile, preheat oven at 180 degrees Celsius.
And, grease a baking mold.
Now to the oat mixture, add whole wheat flour, baking powder and baking soda.
Mix well.
Pour the batter to the baking mold.
Flatten the top with a spatula.
Now generously sprinkle pizza/pasta seasoning on the top.
Bake in 180 degree oven for 30-45 minutes or till the bread rises and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Allow the bread to cool for 15-20 minutes and then unmold.
Store in an air-tight container in refrigerator.
